Personal responses to books can become a bridge to healing within a community. Inspired by Ocean Vuong’s ‘A letter to my mother that she will never read’, the Đất Nước Library pop-up reading workshop invites participants to engage in an exchange of letters, photos and drawings to address the voicing of trauma and resistance around community language loss in the Vietnamese diaspora. Come stop by our booth and respond to a book from our collection or bring a book of your own to help share your stories with us.
Đất Nước Library
The Đất Nước Library is a community-curated collection from Vietnam and its diaspora. The library aims to encourage collective literacy, develop shared archives and create a more culturally-connected community through the provision of access to specialist programming and a book collection which centers people and voices across the plurality of the Vietnamese experience.
